Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta

The Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta (FRIAA) was established to promote and initiate projects that enhance Alberta's forest resources. In keeping with this primary purpose, FRIAA is committed to the administration and delivery of four programs: the Forest Resource Improvement Program (FRIP), the Community Reforestation Program (CRP), the Wildfire Reclamation Program (WRP) and the Incidental Conifer Replacement Program (ICP). FRIAA is committed to delivering these programs and other initiatives within its mandate in an efficient and effective manner. Projects delivered by FRIAA members benefit all Albertans by enhancing forest resources, or improving the management of forest resources on public lands. The type of work carried out under FRIP ranges from enhancing sustained yield timber production through thinning and fertilization, to improving wildlife habitat through research and field activities. The Community Reforestation Program ensure that areas harvested under Community timber programs are effectively reforested. The Wildfire Reclamation Program involves re-establishing forest vegetative cover on cutovers damaged or destroyed by certain wildfires in 1998. The Incidental Conifer Replacement Program reinvests specific reforestation levy dollars on establishing projects that enhance the growth of coniferous trees on Alberta's public land.
